This Privacy Policy describes how TutorMate ("we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the TutorMate iOS app and the tutormate.ai website (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.
Information We Collect
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the name and email address those services share with us. Guests are assigned an anonymous account identifier so the Service can function without registration.
- Content you provide. Photos of worksheets and assignments you upload or capture, text topics you enter, and files you save to folders.
- Purchase status. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation of your subscription status only — we never see or store your payment details.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide the Service: generating quizzes and checking assignments from the content you submit.
- To operate your account: authentication, saved folders, and syncing across devices.
- To secure the Service and prevent abuse of our systems.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content for advertising.
AI Processing
When you generate a quiz or check an assignment, the images and text you submit are transmitted securely to our server and processed by Google's Gemini API to produce the result. This content is used to generate your quiz or feedback and is subject to Google's API terms. We recommend not including sensitive personal information in uploaded images.
Service Providers
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, and file storage (Firebase privacy information).
- Google Gemini API — AI processing of submitted content.
- Apple — subscription billing and management.
- Netlify — website and API hosting.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase. Content you save to folders is retained until you delete it. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to your stored data is restricted to your authenticated account.
Deleting Your Data
You can delete individual folder items in the app at any time. You can permanently delete your entire account — including your folders, uploaded images, and account record — from the app menu (Delete Account). Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription; manage subscriptions in your device's Settings under Apple Account > Subscriptions.
Children's Privacy
TutorMate is a study tool intended for general audiences. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. You can exercise deletion directly in the app, or contact us for any other request and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date on this page.
