Snap a photo of a finished assignment and TutorMate marks what's right, what's off, and explains why. Or turn any worksheet, topic, or set of notes into a custom practice quiz for your next test. It helps you learn the material, not just finish it.
Works on the web and on iPhone. Your first 10 assignment checks and quizzes are free, then $4.95 per month or $49 per year.
No credit card needed to start.
Upload a picture of your worksheet or assignment, or type in a topic you want to study.
TutorMate checks your answers and explains its reasoning, or builds a custom practice quiz in seconds.
Keep everything organized in folders so you can review and practice again before test day.
TutorMate is deliberately not an answer machine. You do the work first; TutorMate checks it afterwards. When you upload a finished assignment, it marks what's right, what's off, and explains the reasoning behind each one, so you understand the method rather than copying a result. When you want to practice, it builds a quiz from your notes or any topic you type in. That design choice is why it is a study partner rather than a shortcut.
It reads handwritten work as well as printed worksheets, so you can photograph a page you filled in by hand and get it checked.
No. TutorMate is built around checking work you have already done, not producing answers for you to copy. You complete the assignment, photograph it, and TutorMate marks each answer right or wrong and explains the reasoning. The quiz generator works the same way: it creates practice questions from your material so you can test yourself. Teachers and parents generally object to tools that supply finished answers on demand; TutorMate's workflow requires you to attempt the work first.
TutorMate costs $4.95 per month or $49 per year. Your first 10 assignment checks and quizzes are free, with no credit card required to start. The price is the same whether you subscribe on the web or in the iOS app, and you can cancel at any time. The annual plan works out to roughly $4.08 per month.
Yes. TutorMate reads handwritten answers as well as printed worksheets. Photograph the page you filled in by hand and it will work through the answers one by one. Clear, well-lit photos of the whole page give the most reliable results, and dense or heavily annotated worksheets take longer to process than simple ones.
TutorMate runs in any modern web browser at tutormate.ai and as a native iPhone and iPad app on the App Store. Your folders and saved work sync across both, so you can photograph a worksheet on your phone and review it later on a laptop. There is no Android app at present; Android users can use the web version.
Most homework apps are solvers: you photograph a question you have not answered and they return the worked solution. TutorMate inverts that. It is a checker, so you photograph a question you have already answered and it tells you whether you got it right and why. Photomath and Gauth focus on solving math problems step by step. Socratic surfaces explanations and resources for a question. Chegg provides textbook solutions and expert answers at a substantially higher subscription price. TutorMate also generates practice quizzes from your own material, which solver apps generally do not.
TutorMate is built by Walker Intelligence Group and published on the App Store by Dustin Michael Walker. It is an independent product, not affiliated with any school district or tutoring charity. Note that the name is shared with an unrelated volunteer early-literacy reading program run by the nonprofit Chapter One; this site is the AI homework-checking app at tutormate.ai. Support questions go to support@tutormate.ai.
Images and text you submit are sent over an encrypted connection to TutorMate's server and processed by Google's Gemini API to produce the feedback or quiz. Work you save to folders is stored in Google Firebase and kept until you delete it. Your content is never used for advertising and is never sold. You can permanently delete your account and everything in it from the app menu. The privacy policy sets this out in full.
